An Iowa City man was taken into custody this week after allegedly recruiting minors to deliver drugs for him.

Arrest reports indicated that 20-year-old Clifton Kelly of Prairie Du Chien Road reportedly agreed to sell an ounce of marijuana to an undercover officer the evening of January 18th. He allegedly used two juveniles aged 15 and 17 to deliver the marijuana for him.

The juveniles subsequently named Kelly as the one who told them to sell the marijuana to the officer.

A warrant was issued for Kelly’s arrest, and he was booked at the Johnson County Jail Wednesday night. He’s been charged with two counts of Use of a Minor in Drug Trade and a Controlled Substance Violation. If convicted on all counts, Kelly could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison.
