An early Friday morning drug bust reportedly turned up over four pounds of marijuana at an Iowa City apartment complex.

Iowa City Police executed a search warrant just after 1:30 a.m. at the Pheasant Ridge Apartments on Roberts Road. A resident of a nearby building, 21-year-old Kheider Abdull Maged, was allegedly found in possession of keys for a locked backpack found inside the apartment.  Police say inside the backpack was approximately one pound of marijuana. A total of 4.5 pounds of marijuana and approximately 100 Xanax pills were reportedly found inside the residence. Police say much of the marijuana was packaged for sale.

Abdull Maged allegedly admitted to owning the keys, lock and backpack. He’s charged with two Controlled Substance Violations and two counts of Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 17 years in prison.
