A plea deal has been reached in the case of a Cedar Rapids man accused of trying to arrange a meeting with two minors in Iowa City with the intent of having them perform sex acts.
Court records show 47-year-old Trent Buenzow of 18th Street NW reached the plea deal last week. On Wednesday, Judge Jason Burns set a sentencing date of March 21st.
Iowa City Police say Buenzow had been in communication with two people he believed to be under the age of 16. The communications reportedly included Buenzow sending the two a photo of his erect penis.
Buenzow allegedly arranged to meet the pair at Mercer Park last September. Arriving officers report finding him circling the area. Buenzow allegedly admitted to arranging a meeting with two underage girls with the intention of having them perform sex acts on him. A pair of condoms was reportedly found on his person.
Buenzow was charged with two counts of Enticing a Minor for Sexual Purposes. If convicted on the original charges, he would have faced a maximum of ten years in prison.
