West Liberty High School has hired Regina’s former head football coach to lead its program.

West Liberty district officials announced on Thursday that Jason Dumont will be the new Comets head coach. Dumont spent the last three seasons at Regina, where he led the Regals to a 23-7 overall record with three playoff appearances. Prior to becoming the head coach at Regina, Dumont was the Regals’ defensive coordinator and associate head coach for 14 years.

Dustin Elsbury was named Regina’s head coach last month after as Dumont announced he was leaving the program.

Dumont takes over a Comet football program that has qualified for the state playoffs in five of the last six seasons, including two quarterfinal appearances and a semifinal appearance in 2018.
