A Benton County man is accused of bilking an Iowa City victim out of over $14,000.
Iowa City Police say 35-year-old Michael Urbano of Shellsburg obtained the man’s banking information while he was working inside the 60-year-old’s North Dodge Street residence between September and November of last year. Urbano allegedly began using that information after he was incarcerated in the Jones County Jail to pay bills and advance money to his account.
The reported victim noticed the money missing from his account on November 16th. So far the total value of the missing money is $14, 103.57.
Urbano is charged with 1st Degree Theft Against an Older Individual. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.
