A Marion man is accused of stealing over $1,500 in merchandise from Scheels in the Coral Ridge Mall.
29-year-old Quinton Jones was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 7:30 Thursday night. Coralville Police say loss prevention at Scheels saw Jones stuff store merchandise into a Target bag, then try to leave without paying. Officers stopped Jones’ 2010 Chrysler 300 as he was about to enter Interstate 80 from Highway 965. The bag of stolen clothes could reportedly be seen on his back seat, with the hangers and price tags still attached. The total amount of stolen merchandise was $1,520.97.
Police checked Jones’ driver’s license and learned he is barred from driving until 2026. He was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Theft and Driving While Barred. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
