The Jefferson Monroe Fire Department was forced to borrow a snowmobile to rescue a motorist and their passenger who were stranded in the snow between Swisher and Cou Falls.
A post on the department’s Facebook page indicates the two were trapped in their car on Marak Road sometime Saturday night. Jefferson Monroe firefighters attempted to reach the vehicle with their Polaris Ranger, but were unsuccessful due to large snow drifts covering the roadway. Contact was then made with former Jefferson Monroe fire chief Glen Heims, who was able to assist by lending his snowmobile. Both the driver and passenger were brought safely to the Swisher fire station to warm up.
The Jefferson Monroe Fire Department has issued a statement of thanks on its official Facebook page to Heims and all of those lending their snowmobiles to rescue stranded motorists.
