The Jefferson Monroe Fire Department has adopted a new logo.

Department officials say the goal of the redesign was to modernize the look of the logo while maintaining traditional fire service elements that are shared across the industry. Designers went through several iterations before landing on the new design.

The one major change with the new logo is the prominence of the name “Jefferson Monroe Fire Department” towards the top. While the department is based in Swisher and is often referred to as “the Swisher fire department”, its name is technically “The Jefferson Monroe Fire Department”. Its territory includes much of northwest Johnson County and southwest Linn County, including Swisher, Shueyville, the Eastern Iowa Airport, and portions of Interstate 380.

The new logo will be displayed as a patch on the sleeve of the department’s dress uniforms and turnout gear as well as the side of its fire trucks.

You can see the logo on the the Jefferson Monroe Fire Department Facebook page and under this story on the KCJJ app and at 1630KCJJ.com
