The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an Iowa City man they say led them on a late Friday night chase from Tiffin to North Liberty.
Arrest records indicate deputies attempted a traffic stop on a 2014 Volkswagen CC Sport just after 11:00 near the intersection of Highway 6 and West Marengo Road in Tiffin. The driver, later identified as 51-year-old Eric Young of Tracy Lane, reportedly refused to stop. Young allegedly led deputies on a chase of varying speeds that ended with his eventual capture on Parkview Court in North Liberty. The sheriff’s office says Young was driving recklessly during the pursuit.
Young is charged with Eluding. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
Court records show Young has previous felony convictions on drug and forgery charges.
