The Iowa Republican Party has announced that their first-in-the-nation presidential Caucus results will be posted online in real time.
Party consultant Patrick Stewart said the results will be processed in three stages: vote collection at the 1,657 precincts across the state, verification at state party headquarters, and the public reporting to the website. The system was built to manage the volume of traffic and has reportedly been tested by party volunteers.
Stewart also said the system is secure from any sort of what he called “outside aggressors.”
The Gazette reports in the latest rolling averages of polling in Iowa, former President Donald Trump has an overwhelming lead at 51 percent while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is at 18.6 percent and former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley is at 16.1 percent.
Democrats, who were denied first-in-the-nation status by the party’s National Committee, are required by state law to hold a caucus on January 15th. However, the Johnson County Democrats site says the 2024 caucuses will be very different than past presidential years. There will be much smaller crowds, no presidential vote, no realignment, and no math. Caucus goers will simply do the party business done in midterm years – electing central committee members, unpledged delegates, and discussing the platform.
Iowa Democrats can cast their Presidential Preference by mail. To request a Presidential Preference Card, fill out the online form or download a printable form. The form can be emailed back or returned in the mail. The last day to request a Presidential Preference Card is February 19th; Preference Cards will start being mailed out on January 12th.
