Iowa City Police have released more details about a shots fired incident early Christmas morning outside a convenience store near downtown.
According to an ICPD news release, at 2:08 Monday morning the Johnson County Joint Emergency Communication Center received several 9-1-1 calls reporting shots fired in the alley of the 200 Block of South Van Buren Street, between the L & M Mighty Shop and H Bar. Dispatchers heard multiple shots fired while taking the calls.
Responding officers discovered evidence of shots fired in the area of where the incident was reported. At this time, no injuries have been reported.
A Hawkalert sent by the University of Iowa at 3:57 Monday morning indicated multiple suspects were in custody.
Iowa City Police continue to investigate this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the ICPD at 319-356-5275. In addition, anyone in that area with security cameras is asked to review their recordings and contact the ICPD with any potential footage or information about this incident.
