An Iowa City woman was arrested after allegedly stealing cash and paperwork from a downtown restaurant.

At around 8am Tuesday, 27-year-old Jaetecia Higgins reportedly entered Formosa Sushi Restaurant on East College Street while it was closed and no one was present.  Police say Higgins stole over $540 in cash and some paperwork from the restaurant.

Higgins then reportedly went to the Bread Garden Market and Hotel Vetro, where she allegedly caused a scene and caused police to be called.

After learning of Higgins’ actions, she was arrested. She faces charges of 3rd degree Burglary and 4th degree Theft. If convicted on both counts, Higgins could be sentenced to up to six years in prison.
