An Iowa City couple faces drug possession charges after a search warrant allegedly turned up marijuana and prescription medication.

The warrant was executed on December 8th at the Taft Avenue trailer of 33-year-old Shannon Poulin and 33-year-old Ashley Aldeman.  A search of the residence and the attached building reportedly turned up nearly 90 grams of marijuana in various forms, a prescription pill bottle that didn’t belong to either resident that contained 13 Methylphenidate pills, and drug paraphernalia.

Adleman allegedly admitted to being a marijuana user and knowing that the marijuana and drug paraphernalia were on premises.

At the end of officers’ investigation, a warrant was issued on Monday; Poulon and Aldeman were taken into custody Thursday night. They each facee two Controlled Substance violations, two Tax Stamp violations, Keeping Premises for Controlled Substances, and a Drug Paraphernalia possession charge. If convicted on all counts, both Poulon and Aldeman could be sentenced to over 18 years in prison.
