A Cedar Rapids woman was arrested on warrants stemming from a domestic incident in Iowa City earlier this year.

According to the incident report, 28—year-old Tichonye Holmes of Johnson Avenue Southwest assaulted her girlfriend just before 9am on February 5th at a residence on Hollywood Court.  Witnesses and the victim reported that Holmes attacked her while she slept, and tried to pull her out of bed by her hair. The victim estimated that she was hit 6 or 7 times by Holmes.

The victim’s mother, who tried to stop the assault, was also allegedly assaulted and injured. Another witness reportedly tried to intervene but was uninjured. Holmes reportedly left before police arrived, but not before stopping in front of  the house and throwing things at the house and breaking the kitchen window.

A warrant was issued the next day, and Holmes was booked into the Johnson County Jail Thursday morning. She faces charges of Domestic Abuse Assault, Assault causing  Bodily Injury, and 4th degree Criminal Mischief.  If convicted on all counts, Holmes faces up to over two years in jail.

A No-Contact order was requested between the parties.
