Drivers on 1st Avenue at Interstate 80 in Coralville will have new traffic control patterns starting on Monday.
According to a City of Coralville news release, on the north side of the interchange, the dedicated southbound 1st Avenue right turn lane to the westbound I-80 on ramp will be moved adjacent to the southbound 1st Avenue through lane. Drivers will turn right at the traffic signal to head west on I-80.
On the south side of the interchange, pavement markings will be adjusted to improve lane assignments for northbound and southbound 1st Avenue drivers.
The changes at both locations will be made after Monday’s peak morning commute.
The Iowa Department of Transportation is managing the project. Updates can be found on their 511ia.org website.
Construction on the interchange began last March, and is expected to continue into the fall of 2024.
