Allegedly breaking into a home in which her son left his cellphone has led to an Iowa City woman’s arrest.
Arrest records indicate 35-year-old Ana Urbina Alcocer of Aber Avenue picked her son up from an address of Keokuk Street on Saturday and later learned he had left his cellphone inside. Iowa City Police say Urbina Alcocer returned to the residence and tried to retrieve the phone just before 10 p.m., but the door was locked. Urbina Alcocer then allegedly entered the house by climbing through an unlocked window.
Police say when Urbina Alcocer was unable to find the phone, she kicked a bedroom door, slammed a cabinet, and grabbed a juvenile resident by the arms while demanding the device. Damages were estimated at over $300, and the juvenile resident complained of pain to his arms.
Urbina Alcocer was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 12:15 Sunday morning and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury and Trespassing Causing Injury or Damage Greater Than $300. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of two years in jail.
