A Scott County man is accused of providing a gun to a convicted felon in downtown Iowa City.
22-year-old Jason Lucas of Blue Grass was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 9:00 Tuesday morning. Iowa City Police say Lucas provided 28-year-old Darrius Bourrage of Davenport with a Glock 48 while the two were on the 200 block of South Clinton Street at 1:30 a.m. on October 29th. Police detained Bourrage after they recognized him from an earlier traffic stop. Bourrage had been pulled over by Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies on North Dubuque Street near Waterworks Prairie Park just after 2:15 the previous morning. Investigators say Bourrage was in possession of a Glock 9mm pistol. It was only after Bourrage was allowed to leave the scene that deputies learned he had multiple felony convictions out of Scott County and Illinois, making him ineligible to carry a firearm.
Bourrage is charged with two counts of Dominion or Control of a Firearm as a Felon. If convicted, he faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
Lucas is now charged with Prohibited Transfer of a Firearm to an Unauthorized Person, a Class D felony punishable by a maximum of five years in prison.
