An Iowa City man has been arrested on weapons and drug charges after a late Sunday night traffic stop.

27-year-old Deandre Davis of Broadway Street was booked into the Johnson County Jail at 10:45 Sunday night. Iowa City Police say they pulled over Davis’ 2009 Dodge Journey for a traffic violation just after 10:15 on Highway 6 near Boyrum Street. Davis was driving with a barred license and taken into custody. A search of his vehicle reportedly turned up a 9mm round of ammunition and marijuana. Police say Davis has multiple previous domestic abuse and drug convictions, and there is currently an order of protection against him.

Davis is charged with Dominion or Control of a Firearm by a Domestic Abuser, Possession of a Controlled Substance – 3rd or Subsequent Offense and Driving While Barred. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of nine years in prison.
