A Hope House resident who was at large for nearly a month after failing to return from his work-release job was taken to Johnson County Jail this week.

According to the Department of Correctional Services complaint, 44-year-old Ricco Thigpen signed out of the residential facility at around 10:30 am on October 16th for his job at the Catlett Marketplace on the University of Iowa campus. He reportedly failed to return at the assigned time of 10:30 that night and a complaint was filed the next morning.

Court records show that Thigpen was booked at the Johnson County Jail Wednesday morning. He’s been charged with voluntary escape and could be sentenced to up to a year in jail if convicted.
