A North Liberty man is accused of once again trying to sway a victim in a pending court case against him.

North Liberty Police say 44-year-old Nathan Davis sent several text messages to a protected party on October 19th asking that they help get a case against him thrown out, and that the alleged victim was the only one who could make things right.

Davis has a case management conference set for Monday for a previous incident from last July during which he allegedly texted the alleged victim multiple times asking her whether she was going to testify for or against him. He also reportedly tried to coach her on what to say at the trial. Iowa City Police say Davis even rode to the Johnson County Courthouse with the alleged victim so she could discuss the case with someone there.

Davis was arrested after an over 90 minute standoff at his Dubuque Street residence.

Between the two incidents, Davis faces two charges each of Tampering With a Witness and Violating a No-Contact Order and one count of Interference With Official Acts. Court records show Davis was also charged with Tampering With a Witness and Suborning Perjury last year.

He was also accused of Assault Causing Bodily Injury and False Imprisonment stemming from an incident in July 2020 when he allegedly attacked partygoers at a house on Mehaffey Bridge Road with a circular saw. Davis reached a plea deal in that case where the charge was downgraded to Disorderly Conduct and he was sentenced to two days in jail.

If convicted on all charges against him, Davis faces a maximum of over 6 years in prison.
