A Detroit Michigan man was arrested Wednesday after reportedly being in possession of a handgun and marijuana while committing a traffic violation.

Police say 36-year-old Daryal Pearson drove through a do-not-enter roadway at the west corner of Clinton and Washington Streets just after midnight. When stopped, a strong odor of burnt marijuana was allegedly detected.  Pearson reportedly admitted to having smoked.

A search of the vehicle reportedly turned up a 9mm handgun and marijuana that Pearson admitted were his.

He was charged with Carrying Weapons and marijuana possession.  If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to three years in jail.
