A fifth person has been charged in connection with a beating outside a downtown Iowa City convenience store last month that left a woman seriously injured.

Iowa City Police say a group of people engaged in a large fight in the parking lot of the East Burlington Street Kum & Go just after 2:30am on September 10th. Reportedly among them was 37-year-old Ebony Sims of West 61st Street in Davenport. She was allegedly seen striking several people while they were laying on the ground defenseless.  Sims reportedly stomped on a female victim who was on the ground after the fight ended.  She then allegedly taunted the victim and her friends.

The woman suffered a concussion and multiple cuts from the altercation.

Sims joins 27-year-old Jovan Trice of East Jefferson Street, 35-year-old Tasheanna McConnell of Holiday Road in Coralville, 28-year-old Richae Epps of Taylor Drive and 31-year-old Tajeria Beacham of Cross Park Avenue, who were previously charged with Willful Injury causing Bodily Injury and Participating in a Riot. If convicted on both counts, Sims could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison.
