An Iowa City woman was arrested Wednesday night after an alleged stabbing at the 501 apartments on Southgate Avenue.
Police were called to the location at approximately 7:45 pm on reports of a stabbing. The victim sustained a stab wound to the neck and lost a significant amount of blood. Video review allegedly shows 31-year-old Thu Hong Nguyen walking out of the man’s room with him. No one else was in the room but Nguyen and the victim. The video reportedly shows the man bleeding heavily from his neck and Nguyen trying to hide a knife.
When interviewed, Nguyen allegedly placed herself on scene with the victim but denied stabbing him or having a knife.
The man was taken to a local hospital and placed into the intensive care unit.
Nguyen has been charged with Willful Injury causing Serious Injury, a Class C Felony punishable by a prison term of up to ten years if convicted. Bond was set at $150,000.
