An employee at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is accused of defrauding the hospital out of over $30,000.

UI Police say 23-year-old Cassandra Garcia of Muscatine falsified her UIHC time card records between February and August of this year. An HR audit conducted by a UIHC nurse manager determined that Garcia had falsely claimed $30,482.82 in labor services.

Garcia was booked into the Johnson County Jail at 9:45 Friday morning and charged with 1st Degree Theft. If convicted, she faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
