The Iowa City Fire Department was called to a residential blaze Tuesday afternoon.
According to an ICFD news release, firefighters were called to a house fire at 1430 Rochester Ave. at 1:10 p.m. First units arrived on the scene within four minutes of being dispatched. Firefighters encountered light smoke coming from the front of the residence and heavy smoke coming from the rear of the residence. Firefighters were met with heavy smoke and high temperatures inside the home.
The fire was brought under control at 1:21 p.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Iowa City Fire Marshal’s Office. Damages are estimated at $150,000.
There were no injuries to occupants or firefighters. The seven displaced residents of the home are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
