A transient faces charges that he made a bomb threat at the Iowa City Walmart.
Iowa City Police say 28-year-old Christopher Griffin was inside the Highway 1 West superstore just before 2:15 last Thursday afternoon when he notified staff of a handwritten note. The note stated in-part that employees had one minute upon reading it to evacuate all shoppers before the author would blow up the store.
Griffin allegedly admitted to police that he wrote the note. He’s now charged with 3rd Degree Harassment, a simple misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of 30 days in jail.
