A North Liberty man whose alcohol level was allegedly twice over the legal limit to drive was arrested with his two-year-old son in the vehicle.
Sunday night at around 10:45, police observed 33-year-old Isidro Santillan-Garcia operating a Chevy truck with no registration plates near the intersection of Jones Boulevard and Hauer Drive. He reportedly flashed his brights at the patrol car within 1000 feet.
Santillan-Garcia allegedly had a strong odor of ingested alcohol upon contact, with bloodshot watery eyes. He reportedly admitted to drinking three beers. A Datamaster test showed a reading of his BAC at .182, twice that of the legal limit.
Santillan-Garcia’s two year old son was in the vehicle with him at the time of the stop.
He’s been charged with OWI 1st offense and Child Endangerment. If convicted on both counts, Santillan-Garcia could be sentenced to up to three years in jail.
