An Iowa City woman who was reportedly aware a protected party was going to attend an event in downtown Iowa City went as well, despite being told by authorities that being at the same venue would be a violation of the no-contact order.

50-year-old Trina Thompson of South Gilbert Street called the Iowa City Police Department last Thursday and asked if she could attend the event at the Englert Theatre, knowing that the protected party would also be there. She was told that she could not.

The next night at the event, Thompson allegedly showed up and was called in by staff, who reported she was causing problems.  When police arrived, Thompson reportedly told them she was there to see the protected party.

A search subsequent to arrest allegedly turned up two pipes. Thompson reportedly said one was used for meth, while the other was used for marijuana.

Thompson was charged with violation of the no-contact order and possession of drug paraphernalia, and could be sentenced to up to 60 days in jail if convicted on both counts.
