An Iowa City man who fled the area after a search warrant allegedly turned up methamphetamine has been arrested.

Back on September 3rd, 2022, the Waterfront Drive residence of 45-year-old Carlos Eduardo Spencer was searched by Iowa City police after they learned that he was involved in drug sales.  Investigators allegedly located over 360 grams of methamphetamine packaged for sale, in areas controlled by Spencer.

The product tested positive for meth. When a warrant was issued in July, Spencer was contacted. He reportedly indicated that he was interested in speaking with authorities about the meth but instead fled the area to avoid prosecution.

Spencer was arrested Monday and charged with a Class B controlled substance violation. He was also wanted after failing to appear on a 2nd degree Criminal Mischief charge on September 16th last year.

If convicted on both counts, Spencer could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.
