A traffic stop early Sunday morning led to the arrest of a Cedar Rapids man on OWI and firearms possession charges.

Police stopped 22-year-old Roscian Wade of A Avenue NE just before 3am on the 1100 block of North Dubuque Street for going 40 miles per hour in a 25 miles-per-hour zone.  He reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, impaired speech, unsteady balance, and had the odor of ingested alcohol. He allegedly admitted to drinking and showed measurable impairment on field tests.  After refusing a PBT, Wade reportedly registered Datamaster test readings of .069 and .066 percent 75 minutes after the initial traffic stop.

Wade was also reportedly found in possession of marijuana and said his urine would contain THC, although he refused evidentiary blood and urine samples.

A probable cause search of the vehicle allegedly turned up two loaded firearms, one of which Wade reportedly admitted was his. That firearm was located in a pocket behind the front passenger seat, within immediate reach.

Wade was charged with OWI first offense, marijuana possession, person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons, and possession of dangerous weapon while intoxicated. If convicted on all counts against him, Wade could be sentenced to up to four years in jail.
