A Rockford Illinois woman was taken into custody on a warrant stemming from an alleged assault while under the influence of crack earlier this summer.

According to authorities, 23-year-old Tahja Jenkins called the emergency number the afternoon of July 23rd  and said she was having issues after using marijuana.  When responders arrived on the 4400 block of Taft Avenue, Jenkins was reportedly in the center of the street stumbling around.  She allegedly admitted to using crack and was placed in an ambulance for transport to the hospital.

While in the ambulance, Jenkins reportedly smacked an EMT across the face. She was then put in restraints for the rest of her trip.

A warrant was issued for Jenkins’ arrest, and she was booked at the Johnson County Jail Thursday morning.  She has been charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to a year if convicted.

Jenkins was released on her own recognizance pending further legal proceedings.
