An Iowa City man terminated by his contract employer allegedly caused thousands of dollars in damage to the parking lot on site, leading to his arrest.

The criminal complaint alleges the incident occurred on June 29th at Procter and Gamble on Lower Muscatine Avenue.  34-year-old Christopher Cummings of South Dodge Street was working as a contract employee when he was terminated.  While leaving the property, Cummings reportedly kicked or hit the outdoor lights one by one as he walked past.

The incident was captured on company video cameras.

P&G says 28 lights were damaged at a cost of $649 each. They estimated the cost to replace the lights and the labor to install them totaled over $26,800.

A warrant for Cummings’ arrest was issued on Monday; he was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon. He’s been charged with 1st degree Criminal Mischief, a Class C Felony punishable by a prison term of up to ten years if convicted.
