A Coralville man was arrested for OWI after allegedly leaving the scene of an accident Sunday afternoon.

Police stopped 52-year-old West Pomerlee of the Iowa Lodge Apartments  near the intersection of Benton Street and Riverside Drive around 4:30 after he was observed leaving the scene of an accident.  Upon contact, he reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes and the odor of ingested alcohol.  After failing field tests, a PBT showed his BAC at .90 percent; a Datamaster test was refused.

A check of Pomerlee’s record showed him barred as a habitual offender through January 2024.

Pomerlee was charged with first offense OWI and Driving while Barred. If convicted on the charges, he could be sentenced to up to three years in jail.
