The University of Iowa Police Department is informing campus of a reported burglary in an east side residence hall.

According to the Campus Safety website, a resident reported they left their backpack in a friend’s room for a period of time Saturday evening into the early afternoon hours of Sunday. Upon returning to the room on Sunday, the resident found the door unlocked and their wallet was missing. There were no signs of forced entry.

UI Police strongly encourage all residence hall occupants and those in the campus community to lock their doors at all times, even if they are only leaving their rooms for a short time. Residents are also encouraged to report suspicious activity immediately by calling 9-1-1. Security of rooms in residence halls is a joint effort between residents, roommates, staff, and UI Police.
