An Iowa City man who allegedly tried to perform a sex act with a pre-teen girl this spring has been arrested.
The teenager, who is now 18, was still not an adult on April 27th when he went to the Iowa City residence of the victim, who authorities say he should have reasonably known was approximately 12 years of age. The boy reportedly entered her window to gain entry to the residence under the presumption that they were going to watch TV together.
According to police, the boy began to kiss the girl over her body and left marks. The victim told the boy to stop and that he needed to leave, but he allegedly continued. He’s accused of trying to get his hands inside her pants several times but was pushed away. He also reportedly laid on top of her to prevent her from moving.
After an investigation into the incident, an arrest warrant was issued for the teen on Tuesday. He was taken into custody early Friday. He has been charged with Assault with Intent to commit Sexual Abuse, an aggravated misdemeanor.
