Allegedly trying to fight a patient while they were being given medical attention has led to charges against an Iowa City man.
First-responders were attending to an intoxicated subject near the intersection of Dubuque and Washington Streets just after 2:15 Wednesday morning when 26-year-old John Lewis of River Street reportedly interjected himself into the situation, demanding the patient stand up and fight him. Police say Lewis ignored orders to leave the patient alone and vacate the area.
Lewis was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication and Interference With Official Acts. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 60 days in jail.
Trial is set for August 29th.
