A trial date has been set for a Lone Tree man in an Iowa City sexual assault case.

According to arrest records, at about 12:40 am on February 25th a mutual acquaintance introduced a woman to 23-year-old Aaron Slaughter in a downtown Iowa City bar.  The victim reported having a couple of drinks, then not remembering leaving the bar.  Surveillance video shows the woman leaving with Slaughter.

The woman reported waking up in Slaughter’s truck as he was having sex with her. She says she repeatedly told him to stop, but he refused. She stated that approximately 90 minutes later, Slaughter arrived at a location to drop the woman off, but the residents there didn’t know either Slaughter or the woman.

The witnesses at the residence told police that the woman appeared “basically unconscious” in the back seat of Slaughter’s truck. They said her clothing was not on correctly, and she had blood on her person.

Lab tests showed blood collected from Slaughter matched that found on the victim, and DNA located during an exam of Slaughter belonged to the victim.

3rd Degree Sexual Abuse is a Class C Felony punishable by a prison term of up to ten years, if convicted.

Slaughter entered a not guilty plea on Friday. Judge Andrew Chappell set a trial date for November 14th. A case management conference is scheduled for September 15th.
