A Riverside man accused of making a bomb threat in Cedar Rapids has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to two days in jail.

Cedar Rapids Police say on February 19th 57-year-old Roy Boughner made a verbal threat in the automotive section of Walmart on 29th Avenue Southwest. The extra on-duty officer at the store notified the Cedar Rapids Metro Hazardous Devices Unit of the threat, and Walmart and businesses in the immediate vicinity were evacuated. No evidence of a bomb was located.

On Friday, Judge Angeline Wilson agreed to reduce a 1st Degree Harassment charge to Disorderly Conduct. Boughner was given a two-day jail sentence with credit for time served.

Boughner has a lengthy criminal history. He was given a ten-year prison sentence after shooting a semi-automatic weapon at a Williamsburg motel owner in 2015. He was also given a two-year suspended sentence in 2020 after allegedly threatening to kill someone in Johnson County, with a two-week jail sentence added last month after he violated a no-contact order in the case .
