An Iowa City woman who was wanted for failing to appear for arraignment on an OWI charge was arrested for the same offense over the weekend.

According to police, 68-year-old Carol Klein of Shagbark Court was observed by a witness drinking alcohol in a vehicle at around 5am Sunday on the 700 block of Coral Ridge Avenue.  Upon arrival, Klein was reportedly seen backing out of a parking spot, then driving back into the same spot.

When the officer came in contact with Klein, an odor of ingested alcohol was allegedly observed, along with bloodshot watery eyes, confused speech, and slow comprehension.  She reportedly admitted to having consumed two glasses of wine. Klein performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and a PBT showed her over the legal limit to drive.

Klein was wanted after failing to appear at an arraignment on an OWI charge from March 30th of this year.  She was arrested and charged with OWI first offense, a serious misdemeanor.
