A former Iowa City businessman who became Mayor has passed away.
82-year-old Ernie Lehman passed away last Thursday in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Lehman was co-owner of Enzler’s, a downtown luggage and leather shop from 1969 to 2005. While doing so, Lehman became involved in the community, serving on the City Council for many years and as Mayor.
Ernie was a past president of the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce, Old Capitol Kiwanis, and the Downtown Assn. He also served on the boards of Mercy Hospital Advisory Board, Oaknoll Retirement Residence, Salvation Army, Free Medical Clinic, and the National Luggage Dealers Association.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, August 18th at Good News Bible Church in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4-6pm August 17th at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service.
