A Columbus Junction man was arrested over the weekend after reportedly forgetting to turn his headlights on.

Police observed 22-year-old Sergio Morales heading northbound on Riverside Drive near Madison Street just before midnight Friday and stopped him for the violation.  Morales allegedly admitted to having a firearm in the glove box.  He was then field tested and reportedly performed poorly.

After a PBT and Datamaster showed no alcohol in his blood system,  a DRE officer determined that Morales was under the influence of cannabis.

Morales was charged with his first OWI and Possession of Weapons while Intoxicated.  If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.
