An Iowa City man faces several charges after allegedly setting off a fire alarm because he was upset that people kept coming in and out of 501 Southgate.

Police say 42-year-old Terell Fulwiley became upset because people that didn’t live at the transient housing facility kept coming in and out of the building.  Fulwiley, who has a room there, reportedly tore up the common area of the lobby and pulled the fire alarm to get people to leave.

Arriving officers told Fulwiley he was under arrest, prompting him to reportedly clench his fists as if he was going to hit them.  He also allegedly pulled away from an officer.  Fulwiley was eventually placed in handcuffs and reportedly resisted walking to the squad car.

Once placed inside, Fulwiley allegedly began kicking at the officer, and told him he should have knocked him out.

Fulwiley is charged with False Report to a Public Entity, False use of Fire Alarm, Disorderly Conduct, Interference with Official Acts, and Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations with intent to cause Injury.  If convicted on all counts, Fulwiley could be sentenced to up to over five years in prison.
