Iowa City Police seeking public’s assistance in Highway 218 shooting investigation

Iowa City Police are seeking the public’s help in their investigation into a shooting on Highway 218.

According to an ICPD news release, just before 2:30 Sunday afternoon Iowa City Police and Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Mile Marker 93 on southbound Highway 218…between the Melrose Avenue and Highway 1 exits…for a report of a man on the side of the road suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was transported to an area hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Through their investigation, the ICPD has identified a vehicle, a black Nissan Altima, believed to be associated with the incident. Police are asking the public for any information on the vehicle or persons associated with it.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the ICPD at 319-356-5275. In addition, anyone in that area with security cameras is asked to review their recordings and contact the ICPD with any potential footage or information about this incident.

Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers is also offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information about this incident that leads to an arrest.
