A Cedar Rapids man has reached a plea deal in an Iowa City armed robbery case.

Online court records show 22-year-old Mandy Gonsan of College Park Court Southwest entered a guilty plea on Friday. Terms of the plea deal have not been released.

Police say Gonsan and another Cedar Rapids man, 26-year-old Nemetorbor Siaway of River Bluff Drive, robbed a victim on the 500 block of South Van Buren Street on September 30th of last year. The victim and a witness stated that a person approached their car and pointed a handgun directly at the victim’s face. He allegedly threatened to “blow his head off” if he didn’t hand over cash and property.

The victim complied, but was still struck by the man with the gun several times, causing injury. The two suspects then fled the scene in a Honda Civic.

Gonsan and Siaway were each charged with 1st Degree Robbery, with Siaway facing an additional charge of Dominion or Control of a Firearm as a Felon. If convicted, Gonsan would have faced up to 25 years in prison, with Siaway facing an additional five years behind bars.

Siaway reached a plea deal of his own on Tuesday, with the robbery charge being dismissed in return for guilty pleas on the firearm charge as well as charges of 1st Degree Theft and Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon. Judge Jason Besler sentenced Siaway to 101 days in jail and over $3,000 in fines.

A sentencing date for Gonsan has not yet been set.
