North Liberty Police say a suspect hospitalized his cousin by hitting him with a baseball bat.

Officers responded to the Golfview Estates manufactured housing community just before 6:15 Tuesday night after a caller reported his cousin, 36-year-old Jarrod Lumsdon, had struck him with a baseball bat. The reporting party had visible injuries on his back and arm and was taken to a local hospital.

A witness told investigators that Lumsdon had attacked the man inside Lumsdon’s residence. Lumsdon reportedly admitted to police that he struck his cousin with the bat because he wouldn’t leave his trailer. Police say Lumsdon added that if he had a gun, he would have shot the man.

Lumsdon is charged with Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
