A patient at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics faces charges that she assaulted two staff members and damaged multiple smoke detectors.

UI Police say 42-year-old Alexis Kuberski of Cedar Rapids head-butted one security officer and punched another as they were restraining her during a “code green”. Medical technicians were trying to administer medication to Kuberski at the time of the incident, which police say happened around 4:15 Monday afternoon. One officer suffered a bump above the right eye, and the other had redness on their cheek. The incident also reportedly saw Kuberski damage three smoke detectors.

Around 8:30 the next morning Kuberski allegedly pulled two more smoke detectors from the ceiling.

Kuberski was booked into the Johnson County Jail at 11am Wednesday and charged with two counts each of Assault Causing Bodily Injury and 4th Degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of 26 months in jail.
