Washington County first responders are reminding residents that the county will replace damaged or faded rural address signs free of charge.
The blue signs include a house number to let emergency responders find an address quickly. But according to a recent post in the Washington County 9-1-1 Communications Facebook page, many of the signs have suffered wear and tear over the years, with many becoming difficult to read.
Anyone who needs an address sign replaced, or knows of one that should be replaced, is urged to contact the Washington County Communications Center at 319-653-2107. The sign replacement is free for the homeowner, as the costs are covered by the 9-1-1 surcharge fund.
