A Tiffin man who called attention to himself while allegedly driving drunk asked to be taken to jail after being stopped by police.
According to the arrest report 34-year-old Derek Huff was near the intersection of East Davenport and Dubuque Street just after bar close Thursday morning. His vehicle had no front license plate; in addition, police say he drove downtown revving his engine and drawing excessive attention to his vehicle.
Huff was stopped, and police say he immediately asked to be taken to jail because he believed he had consumed too many alcoholic beverages prior to driving. Huff allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes, unsteady balance, slightly slurred speech and the odor of ingested alcohol.
After failing field tests, Huff provided a breath test showing his blood-alcohol level to be .140 percent.
He was charged with first offense OWI, a serious misdemeanor.
