An Iowa City man was taken into custody Friday night after allegedly stealing from his employer.
Arrest records indicate 19-year-old Abdoul Djabbar Gado of Broadway Street was working at the Coralville Walmart and started taking gift cards and loading them with the store’s money at the cash register with different dollar amounts while he was working as a cashier.
Gado allegedly stole over $930 by this method. He reportedly admitted to loading the gift cards and stealing the money.
Gado was taken into custody and charged with 3rd degree Theft, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to two years if convicted.
