An Iowa City woman was arrested Friday after an incident at UI Sports Medicine earlier in the week.
Police say 34-year-old Heather Johnson was at the facility Wednesday afternoon and allegedly became disruptive. She’s accused of swearing loudly and demanding that she get pain medication in front of other waiting patients. Members of the staff refused Johnson’s request and asked her to leave the premises.
According to the arrest report, Johnson left through the main entrance, pulled a bloody tampon out from under her dress, re-entered the building and threw it at a staff member as she was standing by the main entrance.
A warrant was issued for Johnson’s arrest; she was taken into custody Friday morning and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations. If convicted on both counts, she could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail.
